Southern Vermont College Nursing Students Present Research at National Conference

2017 Apr 14

Two students from the Southern Vermont College (SVC) Division of Nursing were invited to present their research poster at the National Student Nurse Association (NSNA) 65th Annual Convention in Dallas, Texas, in early April. The annual Convention is attended by over a thousand people, including nursing leaders, students, and faculty from across the country.

The students representing SVC at this year's Convention April 5 - 9 were Pablo Aguirre-Lagandre of Bennington, Vermont and Chelsea Zukowski of Beacon, New York. Their research poster focused on Student Driven Change and shared examples of student driven initiatives at the College which resulted in significant changes. Their poster reflected how influential a student's voice can be in strengthening nursing academic success, fostering professionalism, and advocating for change.

SVC Student Nursing Organization Faculty Advisor/Instructor Melissa North, MSN, RN, CNE has been instrumental in providing ongoing support and guidance to the students and in establishing the NSNA Chapter, according to Division of Nursing Chair, Associate Professor Mary Botter., PhD., RN. "We are so pleased to have these Bachelor of Nursing students engaging at the national level," said Botter. "They are wonderful representatives of our Nursing program at SVC."
